The May 18th Mothershipping trip was a great success! We all met at the boat landing for an early departure and were off to the Pointe Aux Chenes marsh just as the sun was breaking the horizon.
As we got to a large pond that could easily accommodate everyone and still allow us to stay in the line of sight of others, we launched the kayaks into the shallow grassy ponds and anchored the mothership in search of redfish.
Everyone was throwing gold spoons and spinner baits in the grassy redfish habitat, and it wasn’t long before the first redfish was landed. Many redfish were landed that day, most of them being juvenile rat reds under the legal limit but still a ton of fun to fight.
Later on, a few of the fishermen switched to DOA shrimp under a popping cork to target trout. A few Trout were landed as well as a Flounder and a Sheepshead.
We fished till 2 that afternoon and Mr. Jeff Snow landed the largest Redfish of our trip just 30 minutes before we headed home.
Several of the anglers landed their first kayak fish that day and everyone enjoyed the experience!!
