The early afternoon thunderstorms cooled off the August heat and became a light drizzle as I arrived at Lake Martin.
I wondered if anyone would show up. Well they did, and we dealt with the slippery mud to set up the kayaks, have some on land instruction, and launch. Once on the water out of the mud the rain stopped and everything was great!
The nine students, a varied group of quick learners that went thru the learning drills on the water very quickly giving us time to enjoy what turned out to be a very comfortable and beautiful afternoon.
As we paddled around the lake we saw the many different kinds of birds Lake Martin is famous for including an osprey and of course we saw alligators as well. As the sun set we took time to just relax, take in all the beauty and enjoy the wonderful company of a great group of people.
