For several years, Becky and I have used a lightweight backpacking quilt in place of our traditional sleeping bags. Quilts are a strong trend in the world of ultra light weight backpacking – and for good reason! A well made backpacking quilt is lighter and more comfortable than a normal sleeping bag. By eliminating all the insulation and fabric that is between you and the ground, weight is reduced. The quilt also gives you a more natural, comfortable sleeping experience. We used ours for over 4 months on our Appalachian Trail thru hike and will never go back.
We are proud to announce the addition of the Jacks-R-Better down quilts to Pack & Paddle. We are stocking the 3 season “No Sniveler” quilt. This quilt uses 800 fill power goose down and has a draw string at each end (one to form the footbox and one to sculpt the shoulder area). In true Ultra Light style, Jacks-R-Better makes the quilt multi-use by adding a head hole so that you can wear the quilt around camp as a down parka.
