The Bayou Teche
Legend has it that the Chitimacha Indians went to battle with a huge snake that could be measured not just in feet, but in miles. As the battle raged, the snake turned and twisted . The snake boradedned, curved and deepened the space that eventually became the Bayou Teche. In this special series, we will tame the snake in 10 segments so that you can experience the entire twisting length of the Teche in a group rec (recreational) paddle format.
The Paddle Trip
Starting in fall 2016, Pack & Paddle will be your guide for this once in a lifetime experience. We will be paddling a segment of the Bayou Teche once a month until the entire distance is completed in ten months. You will see magnificent live oaks, beautiful cypress, bird life and more in all of South Louisiana’s unique seasons. Segments range between 10 and 17 miles.
The Party
Each segment will culminate in a planned event giving paddlers time to socialize and exchange stories of their paddling adventure. Ending celebrations include dinner at Café Des Amis inBreaux Bridge, a Halloween party at the Bayou Teche Brewing Company and a Casino Night at Cypress Bayou Casino.
