At the beginning of the class everyone shared with each other words of concern towards the cold wind and the newness of kayaking. But as the class progressed I could see and hear everyone getting more confident.
“Let’s go in our fast kayaks” Mary said to Julie. 
Then Anne said “How much longer will we be out here?” I paused and hesitated concerned that something was wrong but she quickly expessed with excitment “I want to stay out here longer. This is beautiful.”
The wind was really pushing us around but everyone was such a trouper and picked up on the technique very quickly.
